Fire Resistance Classification in Wall Assemblies 2-Hours or less
For use in fire resistance walls constructed of min. 5-1/2 in. deep wood or nonbearing steel studs and gypsum wallboard and gypsum board with Classification periods of 2 hrs or less. Clearance between boxes and cutouts in wall shall not exceed 1/8 in. The area of openings for boxes shall not aggregate more than 100 sq in. per 100 sq ft of wall or partition area with no opening exceeding 35.2 sq in. Outlet boxes on opposite sides of wall or partition may be installed back-to-back.
Fire Resistance Classification in Floor-Ceiling Assemblies 2-Hours or Less
Distance between boxes in adjacent cavities may be reduced to 5 ½ inches
